The nursery is situated on an acre-and-a-half in one of Austin’s most beautiful districts and is named after the nearby and historic Shoal Creek. Stepping through the entry arbor, guests are greeted with majestic trees, abundant wildlife, birds, and cat companions on park-like grounds that welcome visitors to experience the peaceful urban oasis while they shop. The facility was recently renovated with recent improvements including a large shade canopy which visitors love as they avoid the scorching Texas sun.
Shoal Creek’s selection of high-quality indoor and outdoor plants includes colorful annuals, native perennials, shrubs, fruit and shade trees, herbs, seasonal vegetables, cacti, and succulents. They only purchase from the best growers (many of whom are located right here in our region) and strive to keep an inventory of proven winners in Austin’s climate, including water-wise and deer resistant varieties. They source their inventory from several local growers, including Native Texas Nursery, which is an excellent source for native and adapted plants.
The nursery also serves Austin gardeners with a wonderful website full of gardening resources. Their product catalog details over 70 plant descriptions with local growing tips and instructions. They include an online catalog showcasing the nursery’s inventory of gardening supplies, outdoor living, pottery, and bagged goods for those who want to browse online before visiting in person.
