DESCRIPTION:Brooke Elementary and Travis County Master Gardeners have collaborated to create a day long gardening symposium. This event is open to the public. Please see below for registration information. \nPlease join us for the Brooke Elementary Sustainable Gardening Symposium. Registration is open to parents\, teachers\, and interested community members that want to learn more about gardening. Registration is $25 for the day (lunch included). \nSpeaker topics include: \n\nGrow Your Own Veggies\nBackyard Chickens\nPreserve the Harvest/Vegetable Fermenting\nBackyard Bees\nCompanion Planting\n\nInformation Booths (available in the gym) include: \n\nComposing/Vermiculture\n Rainwater Harvesting\nBeneficial Insects\n Butterfly Gardening\nTree Care\nGround to Ground\nJunior Master Gardener Program\n\nCost $25 per person (includes lunch)-Sessions will be held in the cafeteria/Information Booths will be in the Gymnasium\nCPE Credits will be offered to teachers from AISD Science Department/CE Credits will be offered to MGs that attend \nSchedule: \n\n8:30-9:00 Registration\n9:00-9:15 Introduction to Brooke Green Program\n9:20-10:15 Grow Your Own Veggies\n10:20-11:15 Backyard Chickens\n11:20-12:20 Lunch (School Garden Panel Discussion w/ AISD Outdoor Learning Specialist)\n-Attendees can take a tour of the campus gardens\n-Attendees can visit information booths in the gymnasium\n12:25-1:20 Preserving the Harvest/Vegetable Fermenting\n1:25-2:20 Backyard Bees\n2:25-3:20 Companion Planting\n3:25-4:00 Final Remarks and Survey\n\nInformation Booths available in the gymnasium between 10:30-2:30pm\nCurrent Booths:\nComposting/Vermiculture\nRainwater Harvesting\nBeneficial Insects vs Harmful Insects (IPM)\nButterfly Gardening\nTree Care\nJunior Master Gardener Program\nGround to Ground Program \nRegister online at https://agriliferegister.tamu.edu/productListingDetails/2393\nRegister by phone: 979-845-2604 \n  \n  \n  \n
