What began as a small raised bed to the rear of the property became a major rehabilitation project for this property owner. Call it recycled art, yard art, or an obsession with using reclaimed materials, this gardener has created a whimsical, fun filled garden, chock full of recycled materials: from the plants that another gardener tossed, to the South Austin fence reclaimed from a vacant lot on Clawson, to an old clawfoot bathtub that the owner's father actually used as a child, which is now being used as a nursery for young and uprooted plants.
However, make no mistake, serious gardening is going on here, from the enriched soils, to the rain water collection system, to an entire backyard watered by a network of soaker hoses. Creative ideas abound for the gardener interested in an unusual approach to gardening. Native plants mix with unusual specimens.
