Dr. William C. Welch of Texas A&M University, our keynote speaker, is the author/co-author of: Perennial Garden Color, Antique Roses for the South, The Southern Heirloom Garden and The Bountiful Cutflower Garden AND editor of The Southern Garden web site within Aggie Horticulture. Dr. Welch will be speaking on heirloom roses.

Judy Barrett is the founding editor and publisher of “Home Grown, Good Sense Organic Gardening for Texas”; she writes for various regional and national gardening publications and has authored two books - Tomatillos: A Gardener's Dream A Cook's Delight and How To Become An Organic Gardener in 7 Easy Steps. She will be speaking on heirloom flowers and vegetables.

David Will received his undergraduate degree in Agricultural Education from Texas A&M University and Masters in Agriculture from Sam Houston State University. David is owner of Landscape Details of New Braunfels, a company specializing in Landscape management and consulting. He and his wife, Robbi, own Gottlieb Gardens, a wholesale nursery specializing in native trees and heritage plants. He has written gardening articles for over 15 years in the Austin American Statesman and other publications and has hosted two gardening talk shows. He is an active member of the New Braunfels community and a long time friend and mentor of the Comal Master Gardeners. He will be speaking on heirloom bulbs.
Dr. Tina M.Cade Professor of Horticulture at Texas State University in San Marcos, creator and head of the “Texas State Bobcat Bloom Program” teaches a full range of horticulture courses. Dr. Cade has an abiding interest in the benefits and pleasures that people derive from gardens and plants. She will be speaking on landscaping tips for gardeners.

Sean Watson Nursery Manager and Horticulturalist for the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, has taught native plant propagation seminars at the WFC and his spent many a day roaming all parts of Texas searching out and collecting seeds – those babies grow up to be the plants we all love to purchase the annual WFC Plant Sale! You guessed it! Sean will share tips and procedures on how to collect and save your own seeds! Did you know that collecting, saving and growing heirloom (open pollinated) seeds in your garden will, over the seasons, produce plants that acclimate to your own “microclimate”!
